New Vauxhall Ampera information website launched

Vauxhall has launched a new website for new Vauxhall Ampera weeks before the first models arrive in the UK.

The website, www.vauxhall-ampera.co.uk , features news on the new five-door hatchback, videos showing how the electric range-extended powertrain works and extensive information on the new car.

Orders for the new Vauxhall Ampera opened last month with two trim levels available from £32,000 after the government's £5,000 green car grant is taken into consideration.

An entry-level model will become the third in the range when it is launched in September, bringing the price down to £29,000 for the first ever extended-range electric vehicle to go on sale in the UK.

Sitting somewhere between a hybrid and an electric car, the Ampera is capable of travelling up to 50 miles on purely electric power.

When the battery charge is depleted, a petrol engine recharges it on the move and extends the range for another 310 miles.

This means the car delivers zero tailpipe emissions for short periods of time and, when the petrol engine is used, delivers just 40g/km of CO2.

This allows the car to qualify for free road tax and helps it push fuel economy figures up to 175mpg, according to Vauxhall.

The four-seat hatchback is on the shortlist of World Car of the Year and the new website is designed to offer information on the latest new Vauxhall.

Information such as how long it takes to charge can be found on the website, which also covers the mathematics behind owning the car versus an equivalent petrol hatchback.

The new Vauxhall Ampera is available to order now in the UK and the first deliveries will take place in May.
