Vauxhall Collective artist to stage London Garden Party

As part of the Vauxhall Collective, Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri invites the public to The Garden Party – his take on The Great British Weekend.
Described as ‘a ghostly installation of life-size hair sculptures’, The Garden Party is Anzeri’s way of paying homage to the idea of British diversity and conviviality.
Anzeri claims to have taken inspiration from 17th century Versailles and haute couture fashion to create these ghostly characters, which have been stitched and sewn together with synthetic hair. Each sculpture represents a different personality and ‘talks about bodily boundaries and the embodiment of space’.
Maurizio Anzeri was welcomed onto the Vauxhall Collective by a panel of experts and was granted the use of a new Vauxhall Astra throughout preparations.
Like the Art Car Boot Fair and Fashion Scout, the Vauxhall Collective is evidence of the company’s ongoing support of up-and-coming British talent.
The Garden Party takes place on 31 October and is located at Q Space in central London - one of the most exciting new places for contemporary art – where Anzeri’s hair sculptures will ‘dress the timeless bookshelves of the antique library’.
