Vauxhall concept previews next Astra

Vauxhall has released first details and images of the Astra-based GTC Paris Concept that is to be unveiled later this month at the Paris Motor Show. The company has also hinted that the production version won’t stray too far from its ‘rakish lines’.

‘Bold, pure and iconic’ is how Vauxhall Vice President of Design Mark Adams describes the GTC Paris Concept who, along with his team, has maximised the ‘tension’ in the design by limiting the amount of lines in the car’s profile.

The GTC Paris Concept sits sportingly on 21-inch wheels and takes styling cues from the Insignia with the signature blade along the rocker panel.

It also flaunts deeply pronounced lines running from the door handle to the rear of the car, as well as a brushed aluminium line following the silhouette of the roof.

At 4.46 metres long, the GTC Paris is practical too - comfortably fitting five people – and features a 2.0-litre turbocharged powerplant mated to a manual gearbox. Start/Stop technology is also included, to ensure it is as efficient as it is powerful.

The outgoing Vauxhall Astra is priced from £13,995; more details of the GTC Paris will emerge shortly.
