Vauxhall on course to meet new CO2 laws

Vauxhall is well on its way to meeting the new EU emissions regulations, according to research conducted by Clean Green Cars.

Low CO2-emitting Vauxhall cars such as ecoFLEX models are helping the company lower its average CO2 emissions which, as of August, stand at 143.6g/km.

This is just over 13g/km more these new EU CO2 regulations that will start to come into effect in 2012 and require manufacturers to have a fleet average of 130g/km or less.

This figure is also almost 10g/km better than those at the end of June, when the company’s average emissions stood at 153.52g/km.

Every Vauxhall model range is now available in ecoFLEX guise, and top sellers include the Corsa ecoFLEX, Astra ecoFLEX and Insignia ecoFLEX.

Vauxhall’s average fleet emissions will be significantly boosted further in 2012 by the release of the Ampera E-REV [Extended Range Electric Vehicle], which outputs less than 40g/km and returns 175mpg.

Despite the obvious environmental benefits, it has a 350-mile range, reaches 62mph in around nine seconds and goes on to top 100mph.

The Vauxhall Corsa, Astra and Insignia are priced from £9,995, £13,995 and £17,120 respectively.
