Vauxhall to boost van sales
Vauxhall says it is aiming to improve its light commercial vehicle sales with a possible network of heavy van specialists.
The company firmly believes that the Movano – which can now be ordered in rear-wheel drive and with a 4.5 tonne load capacity - will play a pivotal role in the success of its LCV segment. Confidence is also high that a ‘solution will be found’ regarding the proposed out-sourcing of the Luton-built Vivaro.
In relation to current van sales, Vauxhall’s managing director Duncan Aldred acknowledges that it is ‘number two’ but insists that ‘our job now is to close that gap’.
The introduction of heavy van specialist centres is definitely a possibility, though Aldred says that Vauxhall will ‘always look at our network to provide the solutions in the first instance’. Vauxhall heavy van specialist centres wouldn't come about until 2012.
The aforementioned Vauxhall Movano and Vivaro are available now from just over £21,066 and £17,691 respectively.
