Vauxhall van discounts take on new London charges

London-based Vauxhall van sellers are offering up to £7,500 off the price of Vauxhall vans in response to the introduction of a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in the capital.

According to the Society of Motoring Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), over 85,000 vans on the road today will be liable to fines of up to £100 per day if they venture into the new Low Emission Zone when it comes into effect from January 2012.

Vans which do not comply with 'Euro 3' emissions levels will be fined if they enter the zone. This mostly applies to older vans because many more modern vehicles pass the criteria.

However, Vauxhall has responded to the new LEZ by introducing thousands of pounds off a new van when an older one is traded in to one of 25 London dealerships.

The deal includes savings of up to £3,000 off a new Vauxhall Corsavan and up to £7,500 off the price of a new Vauxhall Movano.

Vauxhall is also offering discounts on the new Vauxhall Astravan, Vauxhall Combo, Vauxhall Vivaro and the nine-seater Vauxhall Vivaro minibus.

Talking about the benefits of trading in a van, Paul Everitt of the SMMT said: "It's not only emissions that improve when owners and operators upgrade, fuel efficiency also gets better, returning real-world benefits on top of the LEZ savings."

Meanwhile, Richard Collier, Vauxhall's National Commercial Vehicles Sales Manager, said: "With this exceptional offer, Vauxhall is once again supporting its customers with a compelling, value for money package to help them meet their day-to-day needs in a tough economic environment.

"Vauxhall is the only manufacturer to offer eco-models across its commercial vehicle range and these too are part of our attractive swappage scheme."
