Vauxhall New Corsa Corsa Hatchback (2006-2010) Performance
The Vauxhall Corsa, with either 3 or 5 doors, has four different petrol engine variants, ranging from the three cylinder 1.0i, perfect for city driving, through to a 150PS turbocharged pocket rocket known as the Sri. The most popular petrol engine version is likely to be the 1.2 Corsa , with enough zip for city streets and 80PS making longer journeys reasonably comfortable too. However, the real winners under the Corsa bonnet are the fantastic diesel engines, two 1.3 versions and a 1.7. The 1.7CDTi packs a powerful 125PS and will cruise quietly on the motorway all day long, though the smaller engine is actually a newer design and is smoother, quieter and even more economical than its bigger brother.
Vauxhall New Corsa Corsa Hatchback (2006-2010) Driving
Vauxhall enjoys a good reputation for the handling on its cars and the Corsa benefits from the work done by the Vauxhall engineers. As standard the Corsa ride is comfortable and composed, feeling capable on a variety of roads. Steering across the range is quite light and quick, making it very easy to drive in tight city streets, though at speed this can lead to a slight loss of feel for those drivers who are pressing on.
Vauxhall New Corsa Corsa Hatchback (2006-2010) Equipment
As a low cost car the entry level Vauxhall Corsa Expression is a reasonably equipped modern car, offering all that is expected of a modern vehicle – power steering, ABS, central locking, electric mirrors and CD player to name a few. The Corsa Design is expected to be a popular variant of the range since air conditioning and alloy wheels are offered as standard, things many drivers now actively seek out.
Vauxhall New Corsa Corsa Hatchback (2006-2010) Practicality
There are real differences in the two body styles available in the Corsa range. The three door Corsa, thanks to the very attractive body design with tapered rear, is not best suited to carrying five people. So if the car is to be used by families or with passengers regularly in the rear the Corsa five door is the preferred option. Both versions have good sized boots and a variety of storage options around the rest of the vehicle, perfect for drinks, keeping valuables out of sight and so on. 60/40 split rear seats on the Corsa Club and upwards are fantastic for when a load plus a rear passenger need to fit in.
Vauxhall New Corsa Corsa Hatchback (2006-2010) Quality
The new Corsa exudes quality, with the whole vehicle feeling very well put together. From the quality of dashboard and seat materials through to the movement of the controls themselves everything about the Vauxhall Corsa feels solid and reliable.Further up the Corsa range this level of quality and attention to detail is proven again with driver aids that really do fit the bill. Seat adjustments to get everything “just right", excellent audio systems complete with MP3 and DAB support and even the attractive instrument lighting that does the job perfectly without being distracting.
Vauxhall New Corsa Corsa Hatchback (2006-2010) Safety
The Vauxhall Corsa scored the maximum five stars on the Euro NCAP safety tests, marking it out as one of the safest cars on the road. This is reassuring to know but it is always better to avoid a crash if at all possible, something Vauxhall has aimed to address with the fitment of their ESP-plus Electronic Stability Programme available as an option on all models in the Corsa range (standard on the Corsa SRi).ABS is also fitted as standard across the range.
